About Sessily Ann Gianakos

Sessily Ann Gianakos, DPT, PT, is a dedicated physical therapist specializing in pelvic health, pediatric rehabilitation, and trauma-informed care. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Governors State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, and holds an Associate in Arts from the College of DuPage, where she ranked among the top ten students of her class.

Sessily’s clinical expertise includes pelvic floor rehabilitation, pediatric bowel and bladder management, and interventions tailored specifically for neurodivergent populations. Her specialized training includes certifications in Pelvic Floor Levels 1 and 2a from Herman & Wallace, Trauma-Informed Care, and advanced courses in proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), pediatric care, fascia mobilization, and neurodivergent care.

Throughout her clinical experiences at Ivy Rehab, Franciscan Health, Jacob’s Ladder Rehabilitation Center, and AcuRehabMed, Sessily has provided compassionate, patient-centered care across diverse settings, including inpatient acute care, outpatient orthopedics, early intervention, and intensive rehabilitation units. Her patient populations range from adults and adolescents to infants, with an emphasis on orthopedic, neurological, vestibular, oncological, and lymphatic conditions.

Sessily is actively engaged in research aimed at enhancing accessibility to pelvic health physical therapy, having presented her findings at the IPTA “Spotlight on Research.” Her contributions have been recognized with multiple academic awards, including the College of Health and Human Services Outstanding Student Award at Governors State University.

With a holistic philosophy of care, Sessily emphasizes the integration of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being into each individualized treatment plan. Outside the clinic, Sessily enjoys spending time outdoors with her Pitbull Gunnar, cooking and dancing with her husband William, and engaging in her faith community through praise and worship. She also contributes actively to community service through her involvement with stroke support groups at Governors State University.
